Answer: The skid plate is an aluminum plate mounted underneath the mower, just below the blade disk.
Its main purpose is to protect the blade disk and blades from direct impact with hard objects—like rocks or curbs—while the blades are spinning at high speed. Without this protection, such impacts could damage the mower or pose a safety risk to people nearby.
For best results and safety, we strongly recommend clearing all debris, stones, and other foreign objects from your mowing area before starting.
If your skid plate becomes bent or deformed, you have two options:
Option 1: Carefully reshape the skid plate yourself using a hammer or pliers.
- Turn off and unplug the mower (or ensure it’s fully powered down).
- Wear protective gloves.
- Gently flip the mower upside down so the blade disk faces upward. Place it on a soft, clean surface—like a towel or foam pad—to avoid scratches or damage.
⚠️ Caution: Be careful not to press or scratch the camera module (located at the front top of the mower) or the LiDAR module (on top of the mower). - Use a hex wrench to loosen—and carefully remove—all three hex screws securing the skid plate.
⚠️ Do not use an electric screwdriver, as its high-speed rotation could slip and injure your fingers. - Remove the skid plate.
- Gently reshape it using a hammer or pliers. Aim for a smooth, even outer ring—no sharp bends or uneven edges.
- Reattach the skid plate and tighten the three hex screws securely.
- Run a short test mow to check whether the noise (if any) has stopped.
